Dublin weather forecast: As weather WARNING for flooding remains in UK, Met Eireann predicts heavy rain for Ireland on Wednesday

Despite temperatures hitting highs of 17 degrees, it's not all good news for the capital today.

Met Eireann says that it will be mostly dull and breezy today in Dublin with outbreaks of rain, turning persistent and occasionally heavy.

There will be limited sunny spells while northerly winds will be moderate to fresh in strength.

Tonight, there will be outbreaks of rain with low temperatures of 7 degrees.

Met Eireann says that "northerly breezes will remain moderate occasionally fresh in strength" overnight also.

The Mirror reports that The Met Office has issued yellow weather alerts for today and Thursday, warning that heavy downpours could cause flooding in certain parts of the country.

The areas expected to be affected include central, east, north-east and north England, as well as north Wales and south Scotland.

However, there is hope on the horizon as the warm weather starts to return towards the end of the week, with sunny intervals over the weekend and temperatures reaching around 19C.

Hopefully the same will happen for Ireland.
