Dublin weather forecast: As UK heads for heatwave this week, Met Eireann predicts highs of 20 degrees for Ireland on Monday

Dublin is set to have a great start to the week as Met Eireann predicts highs of 20 degrees for Monday.

The day will be dry and mostly sunny with highest temperatures starting from 15 degrees and breaking into the 20 mark.

Tuesday will see the mercury rise even further with temperatures of up to 21 degrees predicted.

The Mirror predicts that Brits are set to enjoy some pre-summer sunshine as the mercury is forecast to top 20c this week.

Temperatures could hit 20C on Wednesday in northern parts of Scotland, higher than the usually scorching Barcelona's less impressive 17c.

Southern part of England are also set to see warm  weather  , with temperatures reaching 18c over the next few days.

That's in stark contrast to the wind and rain parts of the country were subjected to on Saturday.

Business is set to pick up on Monday afternoon, with the north of England and southern Scotland reaching peaks of 19C before hitting the same highs at the same time on Tuesday.

Enjoy it while you can though, as temperatures are already set to cool off, if only a little, by Thursday.

Only the northern most parts of Scotland are expected to see a high of 17C, with the rest of the country struggling to get above 15C.

Whatever the outcome, the weather looks set to be a marked improvement over the beginning of the month.

Temperatures colder than Moscow on Monday, May 6 saw parts of the UK endure the coldest May 6 for 178 years.

A 2,000 mile wide North Pole chill brought  snow in parts, widespread frosts and 50mph storms.

While the UK is unlikely to be hit with such an intense weather front before the end of the month, temperatures are unlikely to reach much higher than 20C for the rest of May.
