Dublin weather forecast as Met Eireann warns of heavy rain showers before sunshine appears ahead of unsettled August Bank Holiday

The rain made an appearance in Dublin yesterday evening and it is set to continue today.

It's going to be a cloudy day in the capital with outbreaks of rain and a slight drop in temperature.

The mercury will hit highs of 19C with some heavier showers expected.

That will continue into the nighttime but is then expected to die out - though temperatures will drop as low as 10C.

Met Eireann says: "Today will be cloudy in Dublin with outbreaks of showery rain, which will be heavy at times. Highest temperatures of 17 to 19 degrees with light to moderate northwest breezes.

"Tonight, showery rain will continue for a time, but will mostly die out. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees."

At the moment it looks like we're going to get more mixed weather heading into the Bank Holiday weekend.

Met Eireann says Wednesday will be mainly dry but we can expect bouts of rain while Thursday is going to have more sunny spells with highs of 22C.

On Friday, it's going to be a nice warm start to the weekend with sunshine and temperatures of up to 23C.

The biggest change will come on Saturday when longer spells of rain are expected, and Sunday looks to be even heavier again.
