Dublin weather forecast as Met Eireann issues environmental warning for potato blight with evening rain and nighttime fog on the way

The sunshine is out this morning as the fog clears in Dublin on a beautiful morning.

That won't last long though as cloud is expected to arrive later this morning and it's bringing rain along with it.

There's also an environmental warning in place from Met Eireann with conditions that are conducive to the spread of potato blight expected to develop later in the week, and could affect farmland on the outskirts of Dublin.

Temperatures will reach 19C today, and we can expect more rain and fog overnight in the capital.

Met Eireann says: "Starting out dry and bright with sunny spells. However, it will cloud over later in the morning with some outbreaks of rain or drizzle developing into the afternoon and evening. Some areas may hold fully dry though.

"Top temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees, in light to moderate southwesterly breezes.

What causes thunder and lightning?

"Rain and drizzle will become patchy early tonight with a lot of dry weather following. Some mist or shallow fog patches too.

"Later in the night southerly breezes will begin to freshen up along the west and southwest coast, and rain will move in off the Atlantic. Lowest temperatures 10 to 13 degrees."

Wednesday is going to bring more miserable conditions, with rain heavy enough to cause spot flooding in parts of Dublin.

While it looks like things will heat up on Thursday as temperatures reach 22C - and they're expected to go as high as 25C by Friday.

Current indications are that we'll have a mainly dry and warm weekend ahead of us.
