Dublin weather flux as Met Eireann forecast thundery showers AND blistering heat for Ireland

It's been a strange week for Dublin and today will be much the same as we get a scorching morning but an evening of scattered showers.

Met Eireann have said we'll get highs of 17 degrees in the capital today and that Friday will see something similar.

The forecaster have also given an early indication for the weekend and nezt week - and it looks like things are set to get even more extreme - ON BOTH ENDS OF THE SCALE.

Experts are predicting we could go as high as 24 degrees! But we're also set to see some heavy or thundery showers in between.

They said: "Friday there'll be spells of sunshine today and a few passing showers in the afternoon, mostly light. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees in moderate westerly winds.

"It will become dry tonight with clear skies. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in light or moderate southwest breezes.

Friday

Apart from a few isolated showers, Friday will be a dry day with long spells of sunshine. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees in light variable breezes.

Weekend

It looks set to be mostly dry on Saturday, with spells of hazy sunshine. Highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees in moderate southeast winds. Showery rain will develop on the southwest coast on Saturday night. Lowest temperatures 11 to 14 degrees.

On Sunday the rain in the southwest will gradually spread to other parts. The best of any dry, bright weather is likely in the north and east of the country in the first half of the day. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees, in moderate easterly winds.

Widespread rain or showers for Sunday night, with a chance of a few thunderstorms.

Next week

"The latest indications are for warm and humid, but unsettled weather for the first few days of next week with occasional heavy or thundery showers.

"Temperatures will be between 18 and 24 degrees each day and it will feel close at night."
