Dublin weather: Dry and bright day but huge drop in temperatures for New Year's Eve

The city will wake up to another dry and bright day but New Year's revellers are advised to wrap up warm with temperatures set to drop significantly tomorrow.

Met Eireann say this morning will be dry and bright with sunny spells although there is a small chance of some light drizzle in the afternoon with highest temperatures of 11 to 12C.

It will remain dry tonight although mist may turn to fog at times.

New Year's Eve is expected to remain dry with highs of 9 or 10C but temperatures will plummet to as low as 1C as the evening draws in.

And it looks like 2020 will start dry and sunny although there is a chance of some string winds in places.

The national forecast reads: "New Year's Day (Wednesday): Largely dry but cloudy overall, with just limited bright or sunny intervals.

"Light to moderate southerly breezes, will increase fresh to strong on Atlantic Coasts as the day goes on.

"Maximum temperatures 7 to 11 degrees. Increasingly windy on Wednesday night in moderate to fresh and gusty southerly winds, increasing strong to gale force on coasts by morning.

"A dry night for the bulk of the country, but patchy rain and drizzle will be starting to move in off the Atlantic to affect western and southern coastal counties by dawn. Minimum temperatures 5 to 8 degrees."
