Dublin weather: Days from hell as Met Eireann warn of unusual 'cyclonic' change with Ireland battered by floods

A major 'cyclonic' change will arrive in Ireland next week as the country is likely to be battered by wet and miserable conditions which may lead to flooding.

Looking into Monday and Tuesday of next week, Met Eireann warns of unsettled conditions with winds becoming "cyclonic as the week goes on as low pressure moves over or very near to Ireland".

And Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather echoed this warning adding: 'Weather models continue to show risk of low systems next week which would bring very wet and windy weather.'

Friday will be a largely dry day with sunny spells but the odd heavy shower will hit at times.

Temperatures of 13C will drop to 4C overnight with mist patches thickening to fog by morning.

Here's how the weekend and next week are looking:

Tomorrow: "Saturday will be mainly dry with sunny spells, becoming increasingly cloudy through the day with isolated showers in the afternoon. Highest temperatures 10 to 13 degrees with moderate easterly winds."

Sunday: "It will be rather cloudy with rain or showers at times. The rain turning persistent later on Sunday, particularly along southern coastal counties. Temperatures will range between 11 and 13 degrees during the afternoon and fall to between 8 and 11 degrees overnight. Winds will be light variable in direction on Sunday, becoming fresh southerly on eastern coasts."

Monday: "There'll be outbreaks of rain, heavy at times and widespread through the country. Temperatures will be 12 to 14 degrees and winds will be moderate southerly, fresh on coasts. There'll be further outbreaks of rain overnight with the risk of spot flooding."

Tuesday: "The weather continues unsettled on Tuesday and through the midweek period. Winds are expected to be fresh southerly, becoming cyclonic variable as the week goes on and low pressure moves over or very near to Ireland. Temperatures remain unchanged overall in to the midweek."
