Dublin weather as UK predicted to be COLDEST in Europe on Wednesday, Met Eireann says a horrible day of rain is in store for Ireland too

As UK is set to become the coldest in Europe today, Met Eireann says that Ireland will be hit with outbreaks of cloud and rain on Wednesday.

The rain will turn heavy and persistent later but there will be good dry spells in southern parts of Leinster.

It will stay misty near the east coast, however with maximum temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees.

The Mirror says that Britons will have to endure another chilly day - with temperatures barely rising into the mid teens in places - before basking in the hottest temperatures of 2019 so far.

The UK will be among the chilliest countries in Europe on Wednesday with highs around 13C in the north and just 17C in the south.

Temperatures plunged to -3.5C in Tulloch Bridge in the Scottish Highlands as there was widespread air frost in Scotland overnight.

The Met Office said at least 14 of its observation sites in Scotland fell below freezing.

Drivers were contending with fog during the morning commute in parts of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
