Dublin weather as three back-to-back hottest days of year over Bank Holiday weekend in Ireland say Met Eireann

Happy Bank Holiday, folks.

We know, we feel the same. There's a bit of doom and gloom surrounding this glorious June weekend that should be filled with adventures -whether it be a spin to a different county (who would want to leave Dublin?) or to your favourite capital beer garden.

But despite all this, there is some extremely good news as we are to experience back-to-back hottest days of the year over this badly needed long weekend.

There is a few warnings in place by Met Eireann today though - they're expecting an influx of phrases so be warned about hearing the following:

  • This isn't a patch on the heatwave of 1976
  • Do you know what? We could do with a bit of rain
  • Honestly, I'm normally really good at cooking, I don't know how I made a balls of the BBQ.
  • Pffff, SUNSCREEN? Ha, I don't need that stuff.

But if you manage to steer clear of these phrases, you're in store for three days of uninterrupted sunshine.

Saturday will see the mercury rise to 24C, Sunday will also be the same with Bank Holiday Monday predicted to be a whopping 27C.

Here's what the forecast is looking like:

Saturday: "It will be dry and mostly sunny with maximum temperatures of 21 to 24 degrees generally but it will be slightly less warm at the coast in a moderate easterly breeze."

Sunday: "Another dry and fine day is expected tomorrow with further sunshine. Top temperatures ranging 21 to 24 degrees in most parts but a little less warm at the coast in moderate easterly breezes."

Bank Holiday Monday:
"It looks set to be a warm and mostly sunny day across the country. Highest temperatures ranging between 19 and 22 degrees in coastal parts in sea breezes but reaching 23 to 27 degrees elsewhere. It will remain dry overnight with minimum temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees with light winds."

Tuesday: "After a sunny morning across Leinster, cloud will thicken during the day with some patchy rain possible later in the day. A large contrast in afternoon temperatures on Tuesday with highs 19 to 23 degrees.

Wednesday: "A fresh and blustery day is expected with sunny spells and a few passing showers. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees in a fresh northerly breeze. Largely dry overnight with just an isolated shower possible and lows of 6 to 9 degrees."

Further outlook: "It is expected to turn cool and showery next weekend with a northerly air-flow dominating."
