Dublin weather as Met Eireann warn 'of possible SNOW and thunder' for Ireland

Met Eireann has said that Ireland may experience a "risk of possible snow fall, sleet and wintry showers" all mixed with thunder over the weekend.

Looking to today, mist or fog will slowly lift in the morning to give a generally cloudy day with patchy drizzle at times.

Some sunny spells may break through during the afternoon with temperatures of 10C.

It will be mainly dry tonight with patches of mist and fog and lowest temperatures of 4 to 6 degrees with light winds.

For tomorrow, there will be patches of mist and fog lingering through the morning with afternoon highs of 8C.

Turning their attention to the weekend, Met Eireann said that there is a risk of snow, sleet, hail and thunder all on Sunday.

They say: "A mix of sunny spells and scattered showers on Sunday, some heavy with a risk of hail and thunder.

"Later in the day a more persistent band of rain will push into the west of the country with some wintry fall possible on higher ground."

For Sunday night they added: "Wet and windy overnight on Sunday with heavy and persistent rain across much of the country and a risk of sleet and possibly snow on higher ground."
