Dublin weather: As Ireland hit by Storm Elsa Met Eireann say temperatures to drop to zero for weekend

Following on from the influence of Storm Elsa, Met Eireann has warned that temperatures will drop to zero over the weekend.

Today will see long dry periods at the start with isolated showers also.

These showers will turn into longer spells of rain in the afternoon and evening with temperatures hitting 11C with moderate southeast breezes.

Thursday night will see showery outbreaks of rain which will ease but it will turn rather chilly with temperatures hitting 2C.

Patchy grass frost with a few fog patches will develop with wind fall varying in direction.

For the weekend, Met Eireann says: "A cold and mostly dry start on Friday with some frost and fog patches. It will then be a predominantly dry day with bright spells and just the odd shower. Highest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees in mostly light variable breezes."

They added: "A good deal of dry and bright weather across the country on Saturday with just a few showers. Highest afternoon temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees in mostly light westerly breezes. Some showers in the west and north overnight but generally dry elsewhere and with some frost. Minimum temperatures of 0 to 3 degrees."
