Met Eireann has forecast a 14C temperature swing for Dublin on Paddy's Day while warning that freezing temperatures and wintry showers are on the way this week.
St. Patrick's Day will begin bright but rain will gradually extend into the county later in the day.
Temperatures of 14C will drop to zero overnight with rain and drizzle continuing into Wednesday morning.
It will be misty in places with a band of rain predicted and the possibility of frost as temperatures move between 0 and 4C.
Here's what they are forecasting for the rest of the week:
Wednesday - "A bright start with sunshine and clearing frost. Good sunny spells will develop widely in light westerly breezes. Feeling fresh with afternoon highs of 6 to 8 degrees. Lowest temperatures -3 to +1 degrees, in light west to northwest breezes."
Thursday - "Some showery rain across the north and west, whilst holding almost fully dry in other areas. Bright sunny spells through the day too, in light northerly breezes.
"Feeling fresh with highs of 7 or 8 degrees; cold to begin with frost clearing. Very cold again after-dark with frost and possible ice. A few mist or fog patches too. Lowest temperatures of 0 to -2 degrees, in near calm."
Friday - "Another cold and frosty start. Overall dry though with bright spells of spring sunshine. Feeling fresh but pleasant with highs of 7 to 10 degrees, in easterly breezes; best values away from eastern counties."
This weekend - "Current indications suggest Saturday will be bitterly cold with some wintry spells of rain."
