A Dublin van driver was stopped by gardai in Dublin recently because they stunk of cannabis.

And when the driver was questioned by gardai, not only did they test positive for the plant, but Class A drug cocaine as well.

The checkpoint was being conducted as part of Operation Fanacht which has garda stops around the country as part of COVID-19 legislation.

The driver was not only arrested, but is now facing a summons to court.

They said: "While conducting an #OperationFanacht checkpoint in Dublin, this van was stopped because a strong smell of cannabis was coming from the driver.

"The driver tested positive for cocaine and cannabis. They were arrested and a summons is to follow."
