Dublin vaccine centre chaos as people face massive four hour long queues

A busy Dublin vaccine centre saw a morning of chaos as people were forced to wait in massive four hour long queues.

This shocking video sent to Dublin Live shows major tailbacks leading up to the centre in Citywest as hundreds of people turned up to get their COVID-19 jabs this morning.

A number of walk-in clinics have opened up across the capital over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Anyone over the age of 16 can pop in to get their COVID-19 vaccination without an appointment.

Dublin Live reader Gerard Hayden said he's been stuck in the queue since early this morning.

Sharing the footage with us, he said: "Was waiting about 50 mins to come off at the Citywest exit on the N7.

"The queue to actually get into the centre is moving slow but they reckon it could be around a four-hour wait."

The HSE will be running the following walk-in vaccination clinics in Dublin over the weekend:

  • Aviva Stadium: Monday 2 August, 8.30am to 6.30pm
  • Croke Park: Monday 2 August, 8.30am to 12.30pm & 1.45pm to 6.30pm
  • City West Convention Centre: Saturday 31 July, 8am to 12pm, Sunday 1 August, 12pm to 6.30pm

People will be offered the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine at the walk-in clinics.

You will need a photo ID and a document that shows your date of birth.

A photo ID can be:

  • passport - book or card
  • driving licence
  • Public Services Card
  • travel pass
  • National Age Card - issued by the Gardaí
  • school or college ID

You don't have to register online beforehand but doing so may speed up your time in the vaccination centre.
