Dublin UFC event cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions

A UFC event scheduled for Dublin has been cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The 'Fight Night' card was due to take place at the 3Arena on Saturday August 15.

A UFC statement said yesterday [Wed]: "Due to current government restrictions on public gatherings in the Republic of Ireland, UFC Fight Night originally scheduled for August 15th will not take place as planned at the 3Arena in Dublin.

"UFC looks forward to returning with an event in the near future."

The event was set to the first held by the UFC in Dublin since 2015, although there have since been a number of other mixed martial promotions at the venue.

Under the revised Phase 3 of eased lockdown restrictions, 50 people will be allowed to gather indoors from 29 June, rising to 100 by July 20.

Tickets had been due to go on sale this Friday.

The UFC have held a number of events behind closed doors during the pandemic but all of them have been in the USA.
