Dublin traffic LIVE: Extremely busy on major routes with 40km of jams across the city

It's shaping up to be a very busy evening on the roads with 40km of traffic jams already reported across the city.

It's busy on many of the usual routes as commuters make their way home and traffic is particularly heavy on the northside this evening.

Motorists are advised to take care on approach to the Port Tunnel where there is a breakdown southbound in the left lane.

It's slow on the Clarehall Road (R139) heading west towards the M1/M50 Interchange.

It's also busy in the other direction approaching Northern Cross following an earlier breakdown.

Nearby, there are delays on the Oscar Traynor Road towards the Coolock Interchange from Northside Shopping Centre.

The Navan Road has an outbound queue from after Cabra Cross to the Baggot Road junction and it's slow on the Phibsborough Road outbound from Constitution Hill to Hart’s Corner.

On the southside there are outbound delays on Crumlin Road approaching the children's hospital.

There are inbound delays on the Naas Road approaching the Davitt Road junction.
