Dublin man threatens Gardai with two knives and a hatchet before smashing up patrol car in Skerries

An aggressive man has been charged after threatening Gardai in Dublin with knives and a hatchet before smashing up their patrol car in the early hours of this morning.

Officers arrested the man in his 30s after responding to an assault and endangerment report in Skerries at 5am this morning.

Balbriggan Gardai arrived at the scene and found the man in front of a house in the area holding up the two knives and hatchet in front of them.

He threatened the officers with the weapons before smashing a window of the patrol car.

Additional Garda units were forced to arrive at the scene to arrest the male but thankfully no Gardai were injured during the difficult arrest.

The man has since been charged and will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice (Court 2) today.
