Dublin Theatre festival 2019: Here's how you can hand pick one of the shows for this year's event

The Dublin Theatre festival wants to put YOU centre stage this year.

The annual event, which takes place across the city in September and October, showcases up to 30 top Irish and international productions.

This year, however, artistic director Willie White is calling on the public to get involved behind the scenes - by choosing one of the plays for the 2019 festival and beyond.

Over the next four years, Dublin Theatre Festival will be taking part in Be SpectACTive!, an EU wide initiative to promote the performing arts.

They're looking for a group of active spectators, who will meet in Dublin three or so times this year in beginning in May 2019.

Willie will meet the group and present them with a carefully chosen selection of potential projects for the festival.

The group will then get to choose which one becomes part of the programme.

Anyone aged 18-25 years can apply by email to info@dublintheatrefestival.com with Be SpectACTive! in the subject line.

Your email should state why you would like to become a member of the active spectators group in 300 words or less.

The deadline is Friday 19 April 2019.
