Dublin teen bags $50k prize at Fortnite World Cup in New York

A Dublin teenager has won $50,000 after finishing in the top 100 at a gaming competition.

Dubliner Joshua Juliano, who is 17 years-old, is known online as "lolb0om" was taking part stateside in the Fortnite World Cup.

He placed 58th out of 100 gamers competing to win cash prizes.

Only 100 players out of a total of forty million made the cut to the play at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens this weekend.

The young lad was guaranteed $50,000 just for reaching this stage, but was setting his sights on the top prize of $3 million.

The top spot was claimed by Kyle Giersdorf, a 16-year-old from Pennsylvania in the US.

The second, third and fourth placed players also became millionaires.

This was the biggest e-sports event in history, and there was a $30 million prize fund awarded to players across the entire weekend.
