Dublin TD Neale Richmond goes viral starring in rom-com spoof with comedian

A Dublin TD has gone viral after starring in a bizarre rom-com spoof with an internet comedian.

Cork comedian Tadgh Hickey has teamed up with Fine Gael TD Neale Richmond for an unexpected viral hit.

Posting the parody trailer for the 'movie' From Rags to Richmond on Instagram, Tadgh called it "the most highly anticipated love-transcends-class movie since Dirty Dancing".

The bizarre trailer introduces Tadgh as the "working class Shinner boy alcoholic" along with the "well-to-do" Fine Gael TD.

The trailer then goes onto show the pair at a rugby match where Neale eagerly yells over to Leo Varadkar, claiming that himself and the Tanaiste are "really close".

The skit also shows the pair at the more "working class" trad session where Neale appears to be rather uncomfortable and unamused.

The video then finishes with the two enjoying a cup of tea together with Neale asking Tadgh if he's "up for the Commonwealth".

Are they ripping into each other? Are they ripping into themselves? Are they ripping into everyone else? We honestly can't really tell.

It seems to have taken social media users by surprise with one person writing on Twitter, "Is this real life?"

Tadgh has had the internet laughing with similar skits poking fun at upper-class Ireland such as The Blueshirts and A Christmas Wish on Behalf of the Irish Government.
