Dublin taxi driver arrested after they fail roadside breath test with passenger on board

A Dublin taxi driver has been nabbed over the limit while driving - with a passenger on board.

Gardai were carrying out a checkpoint on a popular stretch on Watling Street near the Guinness Brewery.

They stopped the taxi, who had a passenger on-board, and the driver failed the roadside breath test.

Gardai then arrested the driver and they now face a court date.

They said: "Dublin Castle Roads Policing Unit were conducting a checkpoint on Watling Street when they stopped this taxi with a passenger on-board.

"The driver proceeded to fail a roadside breath test. The driver was arrested. Proceedings to follow."

Also in Dublin, a driver in Santry was arrested by gardai after they tested positive for cannabis.

They had been driving dangerously when they were spotted by gardai.
