Dublin star Brian Fenton reunites with 'hero' girl five years after meeting in Our Lady's Children's Hospital

Dublin star Brian Fenton paid tribute to a young girl he described as a hero after meeting her five years from their first encounter on St John's Ward in Our Lady's Children's Hospital.

The Raheny midfielder first met Maedbh on the Hospital's cancer ward along with Dublin team-mates Jack McCaffrey, Philly McMahon, and Denis Bastick back in 2015.

And a much healthier-looking Maedbh found Fenton again after Dublin's six-point win over Mayo in the League on Saturday night.

Posting the two pictures, Fenton tweeted: "What a pleasure to meet Maedbh again last night (on the right of this pic) having first met her in 2015 on St John’s Ward in Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

"Remarkable to see how well she has done.

"What a hero."

The 26-year-old was also able to add a little levity by joking that his Dubs team-mate McMahon "has aged well too".
