Dublin solicitor becomes Irish TikTok sensation as he tells workers their rights and entitlements

A Dublin solicitor has become an Irish TikTok sensation as he has been keeping workers informed on their rights.

Solicitor and employment law expert Richard Grogan has gained thousands of followers and likes by posting about your hours, pay and holidays.

Richard breaks down the complicated Irish employment law into bite size bits of information that are easy to understand.

The clips are useful because it can be hard to stand up for yourself and make sure you’re not being treated illegally.

Recently, the lawyer informed people of their rights when it comes to annual leave, and carrying it over to 2022.

Many employees will say that your leave lasts up until the end of December, and you can only carry over so much but Mr Grogan highlighted that this is not the case.

He said: "Now, don't go telling me that a company's annual leave year finishes on the 31st of December or the 30th of September or whenever.

"There's only one annual leave year in Irish law, and that's from the 1st of April until the 31st of March.

"It's in section 2 of the organisation of working act.

"Now, an employer who says you can't carry over after the 31st of December is 'breaking the law', end of discussion, there is no choice, no nothing.

"That's the law, and that's a fact."
