Dublin city shops and businesses are set to enforce a strict queuing code ahead of reopening for Phase 2 on Monday.
Information and guidelines released by Dublin City Council outlines that businesses will have to ensure customers don't queue past the length of their shop front.
But in the effort to do this, owners cannot use barriers and footpaths must be kept clear so walkers can pass in a social distance.
Also, the queues cannot begin at the immediate entrance of the shop or run near a fire escape.
DCC will have markings on the ground showing where to queue all over streets in the city centre and on O'Connell Street, The Irish Times reports.
It is also being urged that shops consider operating an appointment-only customer service from Monday onwards for the foreseeable.
June 8 will officially mark phase two in Ireland's road map to ease coronavirus restrictions.
According to the government road map the further restrictions that are being eased on Monday are as follows:
- Allow visits to households
- Develop plans and supports to open up business with consideration for safety of staff and customers
- Open small retail outlets and marts where social distancing can be observed
- Open public libraries
- Extend restriction to within 20km of your home
- Continue to avoid unnecessary journeys
- Designate specific retail hours coordinated across all retailers for over 70s and medically vulnerable, with strict social distancing; provision of gloves, ideally wearing face coverings
- Visits to homes of over 70s and medically vulnerable by no more than a small number of persons for a short period of time wearing gloves, face coverings, maintaining strict 2m social distancing
- Slightly larger number of people in attendance at funerals but still restricted to immediate family and close friends and limited to a maximum number of mourners for a limited period of time where social distancing can be maintained
- Permit people to engage in outdoor sporting and fitness activities, involving small group team sports training (but not matches) where social distancing can be maintained and where there is no contact
Public transport providers must:
- Actively restrict and monitor numbers travelling to ensure social distancing compliance
- Cleaning and timetables to be enhanced to ensure social distancing can be complied with
