A popular Dublin shopping centre that is known for its competitions on social media has issued a warning about a scam page pretending to collect customer details.
The Square shopping centre in Tallaght posted the warning which has since been reported to Facebook.
It involves a fake page masquerading as the official page for The Square, which encourages people to enter personal details in order to be considered for a competition.
But The Square's competitions are solely done via comments on its Facebook page, and they NEVER ask for personal details.
They said: "We are aware that there is a fake page sending friend requests and conning people into registering their details for some of the competitions we recently posted.
"This matter has been reported to Facebook.
"The only Facebook competitions we run are posted on our official page The Square Tallaght and we will never ask you to register any of your details if you were chosen as a winner.
"We would like to thank all our customers and Facebook followers who sent us PM informing us of this page."
