Dublin shooting survivor has a lucky escape following brutal stabbing

A man who previously survived being shot three times has had another lucky escape following a brutal stabbing last week.

The man, who is in his 50s, was stabbed a number of times in Neilstown, Clondalkin, west Dublin last Tuesday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 11.40pm and the man was taken to Tallaght Hospital, where he was treated for serious injuries.

However, it is understood he will make a full recovery from the shocking incident, which is the second time he was badly wounded in an attack.

The man previously survived being shot three times when stopped at traffic lights on the Ninth Lock Road in Clondalkin in February 2003.

A car pulled up alongside and the gunman fired three rounds from a pump-action shotgun.

At the time his survival was reported as being “remarkable” by sources, who said there was no doubt this was an attempt to take his life.

He was at the time believed to have become embroiled in a dispute between gangs in the Clondalkin and Ronanstown area.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed the recent incident is under investigation, telling The Star: “One man aged in his 50s was conveyed to Tallaght University Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained over the course of this incident.”
