Dublin schools easter fears as one sends kids home while another confirms highest Covid cases in Ireland

Worrying times for schoolchildren in Dublin as one school confirmed it had to send one of its classes home this week while another confirmed the highest number of school cases in Ireland so far.

There are now fears that schools will not open after easter because of the large increase in cases among pupils and teachers all over the country.

One south Dublin school sent a whole class home this week with all children needing to be tested after a confirmed case.

And in north Dublin, a school has also confirmed its third case since reopening - the highest total for one school since classes went back just weeks ago.

If your child's class or school has been affected, you will have received an update from the HSE and/or from the school at this stage.

The letter to parents reads: "A public health risk assessment has been undertaken and the staff and parents of any children deemed to be close contacts of the confirmed cases have been contacted and advised accordingly.

"If you/your child is not identified as a close contact, you/your child does not need a test for Covid-19 and they can continue to attend school, and no further actions are required at this time.

"If you/your child develops any symptoms suggestive of Covid-19 infection (such as a cough, a fever, loss or change in sense of taste or smell), please do not send your child to school, contact your GP and begin restricting your child's movements, as per public health advice."
