Dublin's Premier League stars Jeff Hendrick and Robbie Brady make generous donation to homeless charity A Lending Hand

A Dublin homeless charity has been overwhelmed with generosity after two Irish football stars donated a massive storage shed and items for rough sleepers.

Dubliners Jeff Hendrick and Robbie Brady, who both play for the Republic of Ireland, got in touch with A Lending Hand to make the donation.

The Premier League heroes contacted organiser Keira Gill through their agent in an effort to tackle the devastating homeless situation on Dublin's streets.

The charity, which operates homeless supports outside the GPO and Bank of Ireland on College Green, had been without a place for storage over the last eight years.

And when Jeff and Robbie heard about their plight, they wanted to help them in a meaningful way - not only did they supply the storage, they filled it with sleeping bags, rain gear, underwear and socks.

Keira told Dublin Live that all those involved with A Lending Hand are "blown away" by the support from Jeff and Robbie.

Posting an update to followers on social media, she added: "We were so overwhelmed and delighted with the support, it means for the next couple of weeks our homeless people will be well looked after.

"Thanks so much Jeff and Robbie and their agent Eamon for organising all of this we would be lost without this kind of support from all of us here at A Lending Hand.

"It's amazing to see two young men giving back and not forgetting were they came from. We have such admiration for you both and when we tell our homeless people were the stuff came from they will be over the moon ya thought of them."
