The number of vehicles clamped in Dublin city in 2020 fell by almost a quarter compared to 2019.
Figures from Dublin City Council show that just 35,594 vehicles were clamped in the city last year, while 45,958 were clamped the year before.
Lockdown caused a sharp decrease in clamping fees collected by the council, with just 4,396 tickets issued in March, April and May 2020.
This resulted in a plunge in revenue the council received from clamping, losing almost €1 million compared to the money collected in 2019.
Total revenue from clamping fines in 2019 was €3,314,000, but this fell to €2,412,960 in 2020.
