Dublin's Ciaran Archer has won the EirGrid U20 Footballer of the Year.
The 18-year-old managed a whopping 10-35 on Dublin's run to the under-20 final, which was ended after a rapid fire Cork comeback sunk the Dublin challenge 3-16 to 1-14.
9-9 of the St Maur's man's total came from play, and his personal scoring tally per game was astonishing.
Archer netted 3-8 against Longford, 1-8 against Wexford, and 3-8 again in the Leinster final against Laois, before firing home 2-6 in the semi-final against Galway and 1-5 in the final defeat to the Munster men.
Archer is widely tipped to be the next Dublin scoring sensation.
Con O’Callaghan smashing his way into the senior team with a terrific showing in 2017 was the last case of of emerging talent for the inside line - not that it appears to be a problem just now as Dublin move relentlessly towards the five-in-a-row.
“He’s s a fantastic interest in getting better as a footballer, very curious, very ambitious, and very determined,” says Dublin under-20 manager Tom Gray.
“But he’s a young man and he’s been lucky enough in that up until this year there’s been no hype and so on.”
