Dublin road closes as tot on bike 'seriously injured' in terrifying crash

A Dublin tot was left seriously injured after being hit by a car in west Dublin over the weekend.

The three-year-old was on his bicycle when he was crashed into at around 4pm on Saturday in Castleknock.

He was rushed to Connolly Hospital with "serious injuries" following the Riverwood Hall incident.

A man in his 30s was arrested by Gardai a short time after the crash.

He remained in Garda custody over the weekend and has since been charged and will appear in Blanchardstown court. 

A Garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "We attended the scene of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian that occurred at Riverwood Hall, Dublin 15, at approximately 4pm on Saturday 31st October.

"A minor was brought to James Connolly Memorial hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries."

He added: "A male in his 30s was arrested a short time later in relation to this.

"He has since been charged and is due to appear before Blanchardstown District Court."
