Dublin restaurants to host Dine in the Dark experiences to raise awareness about vision loss

Two Dublin restaurants will be hosting Dine in the Dark experiences to raise awareness about vision loss.

The Blind Pig and The Little Pig will be challenging their customers to have dinner while blindfolded to emulate the experience of being visually impaired.

The Blind Pig on Suffolk Street will be hosting the Dine in the Dark dinners every Tuesday and The Little Pig will be hosting it every Wednesday this month.

The experience hopes to make sighted people more aware of the challenges faced by people who are blind or visually impaired. All proceeds from the Specsavers Dine in the Dark campaign will go to NCBI.

A majority of Irish people rank sight as the sense they would least like to lose while only half said they get their eyes tested every two years.

hris White, NCBI CEO, says: ‘We are delighted Specsavers are on board as a charity partner for Dine in the Dark campaign, where we hope to raise €25,000. Dine in the Dark is an unforgettable experience.

“It is an interactive and fun evening out that is guaranteed to stay with you as you gain insight, perspective and understanding into the lives of those living with sight loss.”
