Dublin restaurants: Mint Cottage in Raheny is the best takeaway around for Pakistani and Eastern food

With two kids under four getting a babysitter is virtually impossible, so step up our love of fancy takeaways.

Mint Cottage in Raheny, North Dublin is a personal favourite of ours as Pakistani and Eastern cuisine goes, it’s the best takeaway around.

You can dine in too but as that’s not an option at the moment, so getting gourmet Asian delivered to your door is a win win.

Mint Cottage moved their business overnight right after lockdown number one set in last March from a sit down service/style of food to a Safe Home Delivery Service Only.

Once again since the latest restrictions hit the restaurant is staying alive doing high quality food delivery from 4.30 to 10.30pm, seven days a week.

Starters are a must as they are just so moreish.

To start we went for the Batak roll, julienne duck meat with spicy Cajun and mixed veg is wrapped in a crispy filo style pastry.

When you think of the way we traditionally cook our lamb chops it now seems rather bog basic when you taste the Mint Cottage offering.

Masalay Dar Champ is a starter dish of succulent lamb chops tenderized with garlic, turmeric and ginger, slow cooking makes them all the more delectable.

For the mains we went for beef garam masala.

The mouth watering tenderloin Irish beef is marinated in garlic, cloves, yoghurt and spices.

This dish could easily feed two adults with rice, it’s huge and is fab reheated the next day.

Murgh jalfrezi is one of the most popular dishes at Mint Cottage.

I love this chicken dish as it’s topped up with delicious crunchy veg, cooked to al dente perfection.

The famous jalfrezi style chicken is cooked with mixed peppers, onions and tomatoes, garnished with fresh coriander and ginger.

We always opt for saag paneer as a side because the creamy texture compliments the spice we adore in the  other dishes.

Fresh spinach is simmered in fresh cream, cottage cheese and flavoured with ginger and garlic and finished with sliced tomatoes.

No Pakistani dining experience would be complete without pilau rice and naan bread.

The Mint Cottage Pilau is aromatic basmati cooked with fried onions and just enough spice.

We always opt for garlic naan and the restaurant allow us to tweak it by adding coriander on top, (Best combo ever)

For sweet lovers why not expand your taste buds and try pathani naan.

This famous Pakistani naan is stuffed with red cherries, ground almonds, coconut and honey, simply delish.

Mint Cottage uses 100% Irish beef and locally sourced produce.

We’ve been taking out from here for a good few years and we’ve never once been disappointed.

Guaranteed to please, I’d highly rate Mint Cottage as the best Pakistani and Asian take out on the North Side.
