Dublin restaurant owner's heart 'pounding the joy' as it secures place on updated Michelin Guide

Angier Street restaurant Big Fan Bao has secured a place on the updated Michelin Star Guide, leaving owners with hearts "pounding with joy".

Expressing their excitement on social media, the restaurant wrote on Instagram: "Whoop there it is! Thank you @michelinguide for including @bigfanbao in the recent update of their guide.

"Our hearts are pounding with joy today, we are so God dam proud of all of our team. Well done guys, it is an absolute pleasure working alongside all of you everyday."

"Thank you for all that you do," they added.

The authentic Chinese restaurant has become known for serving up bao and handmade dumplings among other Chinese dishes.

Big Fan Bao was one of a number of entries to be added to the Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland. This comes ahead of the annual launch ceremony, when the new Michelin Stars, Bib Gourmands and Green Stars will be unveiled.

The esteemed food and drink publication describes Big Fan Bao's food as "the hottest ticket in town right now", noting its "colourful décor, bright lights and lively atmosphere".

The entry also compliments the restaurant's cocktails and their small dishes, which take inspiration from China and Taiwan.

Big Fan Bao is joined on the list by restaurants across the UK in places such as London, Aberystwyth and Cambridge.

The Michelin Guide started all the way back in 1889 when brothers Andre and Edouard Michelin founded their tyre company. In an attempt to get more drivers on the road, they began to produce a small guide filled with handy information for travellers, such as lists of places to eat.

Today, it is known as one of the most influential travel and dining publications in the world.
