Dublin residents perform social distancing 'Saturday Night' dance routine from Derry Girls

Dublin neighbours have gone viral after they came together to have a social distancing dance in front of their homes.

Residents in Ringsend lined the streets, abiding by the two metre rule, to pull off moves to 90s hit 'Saturday Night' by Whigfield taken from a scene in popular Channel 4 show Derry Girls.

The infectious tune has gotten a second wind of popularity in the last few years after its appearance on the show.

The programme, focuses on the lives of four girls from Derry in the 90s, became one of the most viewed shows ever in British television history with their Saturday Night dance routine one of the stand out moments from the debut season.

So, it's no wonder that the locals of Canon Mooney Gardens decided to have a go for themselves.

The video, posted by Rebecca Larkin on Friday, has already amassed a staggering 250,000 views online and has certainly put the area on the map, Dublin Live reports.

Pictures taken from the street show crosses chalked six feet apart to ensure each neighbour was staying apart including the kids who are shown perfectly keeping their distance during the dance routine.
