Dublin residents 'living in fear' as gunshots fired in Bluebell for second night in a row

Gardai are investigating after gunshots were fired for a second successive night in an area of south Dublin.

Residents in Bluebell are living in fear with a local representative warning that innocent people could be injured or killed as the "unacceptable" incidents increase.

On Tuesday, Dublin Live reported that as many as 10 shots were fired, with a large garda presence swarming on La Touche Road of Dublin 12.

And gardai received another report of shots being fired in the area on Wednesday night.

Local councillor Daithi Doolan said: "Residents are terrified that innocent people will be injured or killed."

The Sinn Fein representative blasted those responsible as he raged: "Those involved are holding the whole community to ransom. This is unacceptable. We need a rapid and adequate Garda response.

"I spoke to Gardaí tonight and they confirmed they are at the scene.

"This latest development demands a permanent Garda presence in Bluebell until those involved are brought to justice. I hope everyone is safe and no one is injured."

Gardai said: "On Wednesday 29th April 2020 at approximately 10:30pm, Gardaí received reports of alleged shots being fired in the Bluebell area.

"Gardaí attended the scene and after a thorough search nothing was found. Enquiries are ongoing."
