Dublin residents continued terror by teen gangs as anti-social attacks increase across capital

Dublin residents simply visiting their local shops are continuously being terrorised by gangs of teens who are causing anti-social behaviour and carrying out thuggish attacks.

Following Dublin Live's report on the ongoing issues in neighbouring Tallaght areas, locals have shared stories of the daily anarchy they face when trying to go to the shops or pick up a takeaway.

In Old Bawn in Tallaght, the local shopping centre has become a no-go zone for locals who are continuously set upon by the young groups causing trouble.

One resident shared their terror of facing the young troublemakers who are hanging around the local takeaways and shop.

They told Dublin Live that they have personally made two complaints to local garda.

While on the northside a young girl aged 12 is understood to have been terrified when she was targeted by a gang of teenage boys.

The young girl is believed to have been kicked and chased through the shop in Finglas by the intimidating thugs.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of assault that occurred at Drogheda Mall, Finglas on the 15 March 2021 at 6.50pm where a female youth was assaulted by a number of youths and was taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment.

"No arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing.

A resident said: "It was absolutely appalling what was going on in the village tonight, children as young as 11 and 12 running riot in the village and the main centre. It's getting to the stage where people can't even go shopping without being abused by these kids, have their parents absolutely no control over them whatsoever."

Also in the area on Friday a group of teens was caught on CCTV vandalising a life-saving defibrillator on the grounds of Erin's Isle GAA Club.

A club member said: "We fundraised for this unit due to the sudden death of one of our young members 50 feet from where it is currently positioned.

"The group consisted of two girls and three boys with two of the boys being the main protagonist."
