Dublin renters furious after 'tiny single room' advertised for an 'extortionate amount of money' in house share with 14 other people

Dublin renters were infuriated by a controversial room for rent listing posted on Facebook at the weekend.

The post, which has since been deleted, showed a "tiny single room" with no windows advertised at €500 a month.

Rent doesn't include bills - they are around €20 extra a month - and prospective renters would also need a €500 deposit before moving in, Dublin Live reports.

The house has "eight rooms" according to the advertiser and 14 people are currently living there - meaning anyone opting to take the "tiny" space would be person number 15.

The advertiser also states that the room is available to everyone except for Brazilians who are "not allowed" rent this room.

Dubliners were comparing the space - which one said was going for an "extortionate amount of money" considering the size - to something out of Harry Potter and were equally disgusted by the discrimination to Brazilians in the post.

One person said: "It kind of looks like they put up plasterboard partitions to divide up existing bedrooms."

Another added: "Jesus, you can see at the bottom its not even a real wall" to which another replied, "Ah god you're right. I thought it was a cupboard, but they've put plasterboard dividers in to make one larger room into multiple tiny ones, looks like."

One man, who claimed to be a tradesman, said: "I’d say it’s a room divided in two alright. Easy enough to throw up a timber stud and a few sheet of plasterboard."
