Dublin punter wins €15,000 with the craziest bet you will ever see

A Chilean horse, an English dog and Virgil Van Dijk helped a Dublin punter win over €15,000 on Wednesday.

The lucky Dubliner put €100 on four selections just before the 7pm race went off at Chilean racecourse Valparaiso.

Applejack got the ball rolling in South America three minutes before Ballymac Rita (4/1) won the 7.03pm greyhound race at Doncaster.

The second half of the crazy bet involved Nantes beating PSG in France’s Ligue 1, with the home side already 2-1 up at half-time when the bet was placed.

Nantes went on to win 3-2 at odds of 4/5 leaving only Liverpool to beat Porto by two by over two goals in their Champions League semi-final (15/2).

The Reds were always in control against the Portuguese side but the punter needed Virgil Van Dijk’s 84th minute header to make it 4-1 on the night.

The staggeringly random accumulator cost the bookies a cool €15,300 and started the celebrations for the gambler.

Boylesports' Lawrence Lyons said: This one really went down to the wire with the fourth Liverpool goal in Porto the final crucial piece in the jigsaw for our lucky Dublin customer.

"We offer them huge congratulations on their €15,300 winnings and we hope the Easter holidays will be all the sweeter now.”
