Dublin pubs: Tributes flow for popular Knocklyon boozer owner who died suddenly

Tributes have poured in for a popular Dublin pub owner who died suddenly at the start of April.

Rosemary Delany was well known for her time at Knocklyon Inn where she made many life-long friends who will sadly miss her.

The Lancashire native, who died on April 1, was described as a "lovely, decent lady with a great family".

A fitting tribute was posted for Rosemary on a local Facebook group page.

One pal said: "It is with great sadness I have learnt today of the sudden passing of Rosemary Delany, late of Knocklyon Inn, and wife of the late Michael Delany.

"I had the brief pleasure but great privilege of meeting with Rosemary, before Covid struck, during which time she shared her memories and stories of old Tallaght and Firhouse.

"Rosemary's knowledge of old Tallaght was extraordinary, due in no small part to her own wider family connections with the Muldoons of Allenton House, Park House, Hearlem House, the Foxes of the Foxes Covert, Rockbrook, Jobstown, Delany's- Who had the Cuckoo's Nest 100 years ago, and much more besides.

"We had intended to continue our acquaintance, but then Covid struck. Rosemary passed away on April 1- peacefully, suddenly and at home, at the age of 88.

"I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the Delany Family in Knocklyon and to Rosemary's many friends. May you Rest in Peace Rosemary, and be remembered well."
