A Dublin restaurant and hotel group has warned that it will take legal action if the Government extend current restrictions in the capital.
The Press Up group - who are behind big hitting Dublin places like The Stella, Elephant & Castle and Workman's - has said that the Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has "no empirical, objective and verifiable evidence" for shutting down pubs and restaurants in Dublin.
And for this reason, the group has given the State an ultimatum - reveal your restriction plans for beyond October 10 or be prepared for legal action, according to The Irish Times.
Aidan Donnelly of Stockbroker group Davy has said that the restrictions have put huge pressure on the sector.
He said: "The group itself is very big, it employs 1,800 people across five hotels, twelve bars, twenty seven restaurants and two cinemas.
"What they're basically saying is the Health Minister has published no empirical, objective or verifiable evidence to support the closures in Dublin."
Under Level 3 lockdown guidelines, people living in Dublin are advised not to travel outside the city and there can be no outdoor gatherings of more than 15 people.
But worryingly, one expert has warned that Dublin could plunge into a state of level 4 or 5 if cases continue to rise.
Level 4
- Household visits - banned
- Indoor gatherings - banned.
- Sports events without spectators would go ahead.
- Further travel restrictions possible
- Schools and colleges would remain open but with restrictions in place.
Level 5 - (Same as lockdown restrictions experienced in March and April)
- Travel restricted to 5km radius of home
- No travel to work allowed
- No indoor or outdoor gatherings
