Dublin pubs: Popular Slattery's D4 closes until further notice after part-time staff member tests positive for coronavirus

One of south Dublin's most popular pubs will shut its doors until further notice after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

Slattery's D4 in Beggars Bush confirmed today that a part-time staff member has contracted the disease.

All staff working at the pub are now being tested for the coronavirus and a pro-active approach is being taken by management.

The team at Slattery's D4 said they are "disappointed" they have to close after working hard to ensure the correct protocols are in place, but that the safety of its customers and staff is priority.

In a statement, the pub said: "Slattery’s Pub D4 will be closed today and until further notice, due to a part-time staff member testing positive for COVID-19. As a precaution, all of our staff members are being tested and we are taking a pro-active approach to ensure that staff follow self-isolation and contact tracing protocols.

"Although we are disappointed to close after all of our hard work ensuring that the correct systems and protocols were in place to open safely on the 29th of June, this is a small sacrifice to maintain the health and safety of our valued customers. We take our responsibility within the community very seriously and customer safety is our top priority.

"All persons who need to be notified have been by the HSE Contact Tracing System, and we are taking all necessary steps to ensure a safe and speedy reopening. We appreciate your understanding at this difficult time and look forward to welcoming you all back as soon as it is safe to do so."

Regular punters and locals showed their support for the pub and its approach to the positive confirmation.

One person said: "Hope the staff member will be ok. Fair play for responding so swiftly."

While another added: "Your honesty should be applauded. Well done. Hopefully you will be back open soon."
