Dublin pubs: Owners' emotional message as Swords bar to close its doors

Residents of a north Dublin town were left heartbroken after a local pub announced that it will be closing its doors again.

The owners of the Orchard in Applewood, Swords said that it was with “a heavy heart” that they had made the decision.

The popular bar was closing for safety and financial reasons, owners Declan and Joan announced on Facebook.

In a rather emotional post, they said: “Dear Customers, it is with a heavy heart that Joan and I must close the Orchard back down.

“We cannot thank people enough for the overwhelming support you have shown us during our trial opening.

“Unfortunately for both safety and financial reasons we have had to make this decision to continue to take care of our wonderful staff and loyal customers.

“Hopefully in the near future we can open the doors permanently for all of us to enjoy good company over a few drinks.

“Take care of yourselves and stay safe. Declan and Joan.”
