Dublin pubs: Blue Light issue update on staff member who tested positive for COVID-19

A south Dublin pub has said its staff member who tested positive for coronavirus is feeling well.

The Blue Light, in the rural South Dublin village of Barnacullia, shut its doors on Friday after a worker was confirmed to have contracted the virus.

The pub issued an update on Facebook this evening, saying the staff member was recovering well.

The bar also confirmed it the HSE would not be contact tracing any customers as the worker had not been in contact with any of them.

They said: "Thanks for your messages of support since we decided to close on Friday due to one of our staff members testing positive for C19.

"The staff member is now feeling well - thank you for your concern and best wishes. We are currently awaiting test results for all other staff as a precaution.

"The HSE has advised that they will not be contact tracing our customers as the staff member was not in direct contact with customers.

"We will keep you posted on developments, and will reopen when safety of our staff and customers is guaranteed. Thank you for your support. See you soon."

A further 102 cases of COVID-19 in Ireland were confirmed earlier this evening.

Health chiefs are concerned at the rise in cases in Dublin, with Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn urging people in the capital to reduce their amount of close contacts.

He said: “We are monitoring with growing concern the number of cases nationally, particularly in Limerick and Dublin.

"The next seven days are vital; everyone needs to reduce their contacts and assume any person you do meet may be carrying the virus."
