Dublin pub of the week: A quirky blast of colour in the city's alternative gay bar

As we search for a Dublin pub to visit this weekend, the dawn of summer has us inspired to seek out colour, vibrancy and a relaxed atmosphere, whether we're going for an afternoon scoop or enjoying tipples into the wee hours of the night.

Street 66 fits the bill for a myriad of reasons. Standing boldly on Dublin's historic Parliament Street, this dog-friendly bar is dotted with neon signs, interesting decor on the walls and overall style.

Entering from the front of the venue, you are greeted with a gorgeously decorated small bar from which you can order coffee, beers, wines and cocktails. Surrounding that is stools at tall tables and more cosy tables along the walls.

Walking towards the back of the bar, you'll find a more open area in the middle complete with couches, armchairs, lamps, quirky pieces and stacks of board games to keep you entertained during your stay.

The fun isn't over as there are some small steps leading you up to an even more open space which features more seats, a long bar and plenty of room for dancing which you'll appreciate especially when various DJs take to the decks to play classics from all the top divas including Kylie, Madonna and Britney.

So, what's on the menu? Street 66 serves coffee during the day, making it a nice alternative to your standard coffee shop chains.

In terms of drinks, there are plenty of beers on tap as well as wines available.

The cocktail menu includes favourites such an espresso martinis, whiskey sour, mojito and old fashioned.

Additionally, the huge selection of gins is quite attractive and will almost make it difficult for you to choose.

Between the selection of drinks, funky interiors, plethora of board games and card games and occasional events including real life drag queen drawing and quizzes, Street 66 is a venue that should regularly stay on your radar when it comes to any weekend galivanting or plan-making.
