Dublin Port worker, 19, dies in accident at shipping premises

Gardai are investigating the death of a young man in a workplace accident at Dublin Port this afternoon.

The 19-year-old was fatally injured at a shipping premises at around 3:30pm.

Emergency services raced to the scene but were unable to save the worker, whose body has since been removed to Dublin city morgue.

A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live investigations into the death are ongoing.

She said: "Gardaí in Store Street were alerted to a sudden death at a shipping premises at Dublin Port this afternoon, Saturday 15th May, 2021 at approximately 3.30p.m.

"The man, 19 years, was fatally injured at a workplace accident and Gardaí and Emergency services were called to the scene. The body of deceased was removed to Dublin city morgue where a post mortem will take place.

"An examination of the scene has been carried out by Gardaí and enquiries are ongoing.

"The Health and Safety Authority and the local Coroner have been notified."
