Dublin Night Run 2019 road closures and traffic diversions as annual 10k to take over city centre

The Dublin Night Run returns to the capital once again this evening.

Kicking off at 9pm this evening, the race will follow a route along the Quays, down along Pearse Street, through Irishtown, up to East Wall and then back to the Quays.

There are a number of temporary road closures and bus diversions from 6pm this evening, with some disruption also expected on the Luas.

Here's everything you need to know:

Road closures

  • North Wall Quay (from Commons Street to Castleforbes Street), Dublin 1 from 18.00hrs to 24.00hrs on Sunday 28th April 2019.
  • In addition to temporary road closures there will be temporary traffic lane closures on the race route from North Wall Quay (NWQ), Custom House Quay (CHQ), Butt Bridge, George’s Quay, City Quay, Sir John Rogerson’s Quay (SJRQ), Horse Fair, Blood Stoney Rd, Hanover Quay, Misery Hill, Macken Street, Pearse St, Ringsend Rd, South Lotts Rd, Bridge St, Irishtown Road, Seapoint Tce, Pembroke St, Sean Moore Rd, Tom Clarke East Link Bridge East Wall Rd, Castleforbes Rd, North Wall Ave and NWQ between 21.00 and 23.00hrs
  • Traffic Management Plan
  • Traffic on Eden Quay wishing to travel on Custom House Quay & North Wall Quay to Tom Clarke East Link Bridge will be diverted via Beresford Place, Gardiner Street, Parnell Street, Parnell Square, Granby Row, Dorset Street, North Circular Road, Portland Row, North Strand Road, Annesley Place, Poplar Row and East Wall Road.
  • Traffic on East Wall Road wishing to travel on North Wall Quay to Burgh Quay will be diverted via Tom Clarke East Link Bridge, Sean Moore Road, Bath Street, Irishtown Road, Bridge Street, Ringsend Road, Pearse Street and Tara Street.
  • Pedestrian and local access will be maintained.

Dublin Bus diversions

Route 1
From 21.00hrs to 22.15hrs
Towards Sandymount

Normal route to Townsend Street and terminate.
Towards Santry  (operate 10 minutes after scheduled time)
Depart stop 350, Townsend Street, Sandwich Street, Pearse Street and back on to normal route.

Route 15a/b
From 21.00hrs to 22.15hrs
Towards Ringsend Road
Normal route to Townsend Street, divert left to Luke Street and then terminate.
Towards Limekiln Avenue/Stocking Avenue
Departing from Luke Street onto Georges Quay, Burgh Quay, D'Olier Street to College Street and then back onto normal route.

Route 47
From 21.00hrs to 22.15hrs
Towards Belarmine
Departing Poolbeg Street then divert to College Street, Nassau Street, Merrion Square North, Northumberland Road, Ballsbridge to Nutley Lane and back on to normal route.
Towards Poolbeg Street
Departing Belarmine as normal but from Nutley Lane will divert to Ballsbridge, Northumberland Road, Merrion Square North, Clare Street, Lincoln Place, Westland Row to Pearse Street and then back on to normal route.

Route 56a and 77a
From 21.00hrs to 22.15hrs
Towards Ringsend Road
Normal route to Fleet Street then divert to Luke Street and terminate. 
Towards Tallaght/Citywest  (operate 10 minutes after scheduled time)
Departing Luke Street, then to College Street and back on to normal route.

Route 151 
From 18.30hrs to 23.00hrs
Towards East Wall, East Road
Normal route to Eden Quay then divert to Beresford Place, Amiens Street, North Strand left to Annesley Place and right onto Poplar Row, East Wall Road then right to terminus at East Road.
Towards Foxborough 
From 20.45hrs to 21.45hrs
Normal route.

Route 747
From 18.30hrs to 23.00hrs
Towards Airport
Normal route to Busáras then divert via Amiens Street, Fairview, Malahide Road, Collins Avenue to M1 and back on to normal route.
Towards Heuston Station
Normal route to Port Tunnel, then divert right onto East Wall Road then left to North Strand and back onto normal route.

Route 757
From 18.30hrs to 23.00hrs
Towards Airport
Normal route to Busáras, then divert via Amiens Street, Fairview, Malahide Road, left onto Collins Avenue to M1 and then back onto normal route.
Towards Camden Street
Normal route to Port Tunnel, then divert right to East Wall Road, then left to North Strand, Amiens Street and then back onto normal route.

Luas disruption

Luas operators said: "There will be some disruption to normal service on the Red Line to facilitate the run.

"There will be no service between Busáras and The Point from 9.00pm – 10.00pm approx.

"Trams from Tallaght and Saggart will run to / from Connolly during this disruption. This temporary closure is subject to Garda instructions."
