Dublin mum shares simple trick to get rid of pesky 'fruit' flies

A mum has shared her easy trick to instantly get rid of those pesky little fruit flies that have been plaguing Irish households.

The Dublin woman took to Facebook with a picture of the trapped flies and said: "Anybody else getting these horrible little things? I don't have fruit and I'm getting them, disguting."

She was met with a flurry of comments also expressing their anger, remarking that they either didn't have fruit or had to put their fruit in the fridge, but yet still suffered from the little creatures, RSVP Live reports.

The mother-of-one told how "within the first half hour I had caught over twenty of them" - and she noted from there it only took a few hours before they were gone completely from her home.

Tina noticed her kitchen and home, like many Irish people's this summer , had been ravaged by the pesky little flies, despite not having any fruit.

So to combat the situation she took a couple of regular tea cups, cling-film and apple-cider vinegar and got to work.

The benefits of apple-cider vinegar have long since been known, however, this new use for the stuff might just be the best one yet.

Tina filled the teacups with the apple-cider vinegar and placed cling-film over the top.

She then poked holes big enough for the tiny flies to get through in the layer of film.

The flies who are attracted to the sweetness can't stay away. They soon fly through the holes and are instantly trapped in the sticky vinegar.

Tina said that within hours her kitchen and home had returned to being free of the annoying house flies.

She said: "It's working so happy days."
