Dublin mum loses five stone through hypnosis and quitting wine and bread

A strong mum-of-one mum told she tried every fad diet, including the “Fat Sick and Nearly Dead diet”, until hypnosis helped her shed five stone.

Dubliner Orla Connolly said quitting bread and wine helped shed the pounds too.

Orla, 42, told the Irish Mirror: “For as long as I can remember I’ve always had a weight problem.

“I’ve done every slimming club in the world, from mad diets to just drinking juices to the ‘Fat Sick and nearly dead’ diet.

“Last year when we went into the first lockdown the weight just piled back on.

“I wasn’t doing much exercise, working from home and eating a lot of takeaways.”

Working in travel and securing a last minute trip to Greece last year was the wake up call Orla needed to lose the weight.

“There was no time for a quick fix diet, I felt so uncomfortable when I was away.

“When I was there my brother said he’d heard about this D4 clinic so I made an appointment to see Jason when I got home.

“With me bread is my downfall, I’d be making a sandwich, so boredom and stress meant you were constantly in and out of the fridge.”

The lockdown weight piled on Orla from March to August and she gained two and a half stone.

She said: “I was heavy as it was, but the day I started with Jason I had hit 16 stone and I’m now 11 stone.

“I started with Jason at the end of September and by Christmas I was down three stone, I’ve lost five stone since starting with him.

“Since Christmas it’s been a pound here or there but I’ve been consistently losing weight.

“I listen to my hypnosis recording every day.”

Quitting booze helped until wine o’clock started calling again.

She explained: “When I started the hypnosis, I gave up drink for 12 weeks so it really came off then.

“I started having the odd glass of wine here and there so I noticed the weight wasn’t moving.”

Orla explained how she was turned off wine, through the power of hypnosis.

She said: “When I went back to Jason last time he hypnotised me into thinking I don’t like wine anymore.

“It’s just in my head, he’s hypnotised me to think every time I have a glass of wine, it’s the slop tray out of a bar.

“So I just haven’t bought wine, hypnosis has given me a totally different mind set.”

Before shopping for clothes was a nightmare: “I’d go to Penneys and I’d be looking for a size 20 and there’d never be anything nice left.

“It was hard going out with the skinny ones from work and you’d feel like you were wearing a tent.

“Before hypnosis and losing the weight, I couldn’t walk. I live across the road from Corkagh Park, my daughter got a dog for her birthday.

“Now I bring him out for a 10K walk most days and I do my bootcamps too.”
