Dublin parent of young family expresses her shock after finding her car clamped in petrol station

A Dublin parent of a young family has expressed her shock after returning to her car at a Northside petrol station to find it clamped.

The anonymous person explained that after purchasing food for her family and eating it in the terrace seating area, she returned to find the clamp on the car.

She said: "Today I parked in Circle K Dublin Airport, I was parked beside the front door, I went and ordered our food and paid for it and proceeded to eat my food in the terrace seating area with my family which took around 10 minutes in total- with a young baby in hand, by the time I had finished I went outside to find my car clamped.

"I was informed that the maximum stay was 20 minutes, I questioned this and the staff agreed 20 minutes is not adequate to order food pay for food and then sit down and eat it, however I was still forced to pay €125.

They added that there was no signage within eye sight, instead they were placed at foot level in the car park.

"FYI there was no signage within eye sight of the front door nor within the shop, they are placed at foot level around the edges of the car park (apart from the ones close to McDonald’s) and are mainly blocked by cars or in one case an ice cream sign.

"I understand it’s a busy location but to expect paying cafe customers to pay €125 after 35 minutes is crazy especially after paying €40 for the family lunch, they have one young guy walking around all day hunting for people to clamp while the clamper sits in his car waiting for the next victim."

Apcoa, the car park managing company of Circkle K Dublin Airport, have been contacted for a comment.
